Trying out the Limbo-CMS again. I have had one of the early versions but at that time the beta was still really beta. Now it seems to be stable for quite a bit so let’s go.

The install was without errors, that’s good.

Nice on the three options on the Database (SQlite, MySQL or Text).

Unfortunatley the first bad point is popping up right after the installation. The Design Template Code ist still not compatible with W3W Standards and Opera is having a Problem with the Searchbox.

Well, that is a small problem.

Other than that it looks quite nice and all tested features seem to work, can’t really say more other than it is a miniature Mambo or Joomla. A bit faster but of course not as many options and Plug-ins.

One other thing I noticed and that is that there seem to still be a fewo old Mambo typical Security Problems with Limbo. Shortly after installing it and testing it for a few days I was listed in Google with “Limbo CMS” and shortly thereafter I had a few Scriptkidies at my front door.

They got in quite easy over an Exploit and started uploading their “Italian Filmies” (Yes, really … 700MB worth of Italian Film kopied via video camera in a movie theater).

After that I killed the whole Installation.

So, my suggestion to you out there … get Joomla if that is what you are looking for, stay away from Limbo until they mess with it a bit more and get some of the old Mambo Exploits fixed.

Und noch ein CMS System das sich lohnt anzuschauen.

Nucleus CMS erlaubt einen oder mehrere Weblogs (Blogs) zu unterhalten. Es ist leicht zu installieren und äußerst flexibel. Wie auch die anderen Systeme gibt es hier erweiterungs Plugins, z.B. Kalender, Newsletter, Podcast und andere nette Sachen.

Es gibt viele Sprachpakete und für Deutsch gibt es sogar eine komplett Version mit deutschem Installer.

Es gibt auch zwei Importer (WordPress und Movable Type).

Also für Blogger ein CMS das man anschauen sollte.

Ein weiteres CMS System über das ich gestolpert bin.

Den core kann man kostenlos runterladen und als “free” nutzen, solange man ihn nich so einsetzt dass man in irgend einer From damit Geld macht.

Es gibt dann noch die Abstufung von “Personal” und “Professional” die Geld kosten. Aber bei den Funktionen die es bietet einen Preis unterhalb 300 Dollar zu haben ist in meinen Augen noch recht in Ordnung.

Ach ja und zu Beachten ist auch dass es Momentan einen Design Wettbewerb dafür gibt mit einem Preisgeld von 15 000 !!

… so, nachdem Mamboo einen anderen Namen hat und das eignedlich auch wieder das gleiche ist habe ich gedacht schaue ich mich auch mal um.

… hier mal eine richtige Ladung Plug-Ins für WordPress.

Mambo gibt es nun ja nicht mehr so wie wir es gewohnt waren, das heisst geben schon doch die “Macher” sind nun wo anderst, nähmlich bei sich selbst und das heisst nun Joomla.

Und kurz gewartet schon ist der erste Release draussen.

Joomla 1.0 setzt auf dem Code der aktuellen Mambo-Version 4.5.2.3 auf, behebt aber eine Reihe von Fehlern und Sicherheitslücken.

Zu den Neuerungen zählen Unterstützung für MySQL 4.1, einfachere Einbettung des Übersetzungstools Mambelfish sowie einige Verbesserungen an der Benutzeroberfläche, Admin Seite und bei den Entwicklerwerkzeugen.
